That Big Dude: 3 Fingers (the title will make sense eventually)

So tonight I saw this tweet…

I was like really? Well the truth is I have arrived late to the greatness of this cat. EEEVVVVVERYONE was on him last year and I was like “meh”. Well this is typical of me. My boy @coopwood and @jazzysoul both put me on J.Cole ( you know him as Jermaine) and I was like “meh”. Now he is like top 5 blog rappers. Now I am not sure if I am using this term blog rapper correctly, but to me a blog rapper is an artist that is building his (or her (pffft,yea right lol)) virally , but mainly through blogs. Also blog rappers are mainly digital (#pause), meaning they can’t be picked up at Best Buy ( which is the standard). Example Wale (you know him from the raps) dropped Attention Deficit, however I could not find it @ Best Buy (the standard). I actually bought from a local clothing emporium (s/o to Phat Kaps), during a Wale (from the” you-know”) meet and greet. Now the entire purchasing experience was just that (an experience), but it was a little bit difficult to support the artist in the fashion I prefer. I prefer CDs to downloads on iTunes. Wow, what a tangent?!! The fact is there is a different type of ownership consumers/fans take on with blogger rappers. It is “their” artist, because “they” found them. Like most things (i.e. power, a girl who is not….”crazy”, an Outkast album b4 the end of the world (which The Game (the artist not the show) says is 2012...O_O)) it is an illusion. But we putter along with “our” artist and this sense of pride which turns into resentment once they “blow up” (I ain't mad *sniff*). But this is the new consumer and artist relationship …and I LOVE IT and hate it. So when a friend “puts me on an artist” (i.e. Mr. Lamar), even if I trust their taste, I am measuring up my favorites and “my” ”discoveries” (see STS blog posting) to this “new” person. So I weighed KL and found him wanting last year. Coop would be like “O.verly D.edicated is the truff shun”. I was all “ well the cd aint free no more, and the free chopped and screwed version was ..meh”. Now I feel like I have wasted a year on cats that I am forcing myself to listen to (Lil B…Wiz Khalifa…I digress). Artist who have either left me frustrated or wanting more. This is not the case w/ KL. Now throwing out all rappers due to KL “blowing up” IDK if I can run with that. I do know that he is leading the pack. I guess I will have to wait til I see him live, cuuuuuz K.ing R.emember I.n T.ime is KANG!!!!
